On September 18, 2022, over 90 development videos of GTA 6 leaked online following a breach of Rockstar Games' servers. Rockstar confirmed the intrusion the very next day.

On September 18, 2022, an individual using the handle "teapotuberhacker" posted over 90 video files on GTAForums, presented as development footage of the next Grand Theft Auto. It's considered one of the biggest leaks in video game history.

On September 19, 2022, Rockstar Games released an official statement confirming the breach: "We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto."

Rockstar stated the incident was not expected to disrupt its live services or the game's development, and promised to properly introduce the game to players "when it is ready". The leaked footage showed development material tied to Vice City, along with two playable characters later officially confirmed as Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval — more than a year before the first official trailer was released.

Rockstar never officially confirmed or detailed the precise content of these videos beyond acknowledging the breach itself: what was shown reflects development-stage content, potentially different from the final game.
